Hi I’m Glen and I hail from Canberra, Australia. I set this blog up originally as a travel diary for documenting my trips as I really wanted to put some more description around what the photos represent rather than just posting a few random photos on Facebook.
I have a number of interests, primarily motorcycling (hence my blog is named after my bike – a Kawasaki ZX14) and specifically distance riding. While I enjoy commuting, or popping out for a latte in some quaint little town an hour or so away, what I really love is leaving before the sun has thought about appearing and watching the world come to life as my wheels are turning, continuing through the day taking in the changes of scenery before watching the sun disappear in a colourful hurrah over the horizon. Then there is the wonder of blazing into the night where the solitude consumes you with just your lights pointing the way. No distractions. Just you, your thoughts and the road.
In the last few years I have combined another of my interests, photography. I’m not saying that I’m any good at photography but I do enjoy taking photos, and with my riding I have been very lucky to ride to some very stunning places. The one thing that I have had to force myself to do is to stop and take that photo.

Then there are other times where you just want to capture what’s happening as you go, so I have been playing around with a camera that I have tethered to my tank bag. While they are a bit of guess work as they are one handed point-and-shoot I have gotten better at the technique over time.
So that’s a bit about me. Don’t expect long prose about the meaning of life, but if you are interested in the places that I go then stick around.
cheers
Glen
Hi Glen
Always good to meet a fellow biker. Thanks for stopping by and leaving me a ‘like’ on Beemerbird. I’ve only just started that blog. My hubby and I live in the backwoods in the Dordogne in France and our main hobby is biking. Haven’t done any long tours for a while but do enjoy the roads here and the many coffee stops. Like you I also play with photography, and my hubby has a Go-Pro which he attaches to various bits of his bike.
Love your pics! And I’ll enjoy following your travels. If you ever come to France we’ll be happy to show you around! Best wishes, Jude. 🙂

Hi Jude. It turns out that we’ll be in Spain next month for a trip and for the last week I’ve hired a F800GT for a bit of riding in the Pyrenees and then back for the Catalunya MotoGP. Glen
