With bags packed we are off to Seattle for an Alaskan inside passage cruise and a chance to take in the sights and to put up our feet and take it easy for the next week.

Our normal plan on these trips is to soak up everything we can. So we spend the whole time running from one activity to the next, as you may never be back here. But this year, we decided that we’d do very little and hang around the resort and just chill. Was this the right…
Spring break time… and we are heading north of the equator to Mexico, thanks to Stampin’ Up!, where it is spring and getting warmer rather than colder.
Funny, having a drink in the back of the ship this afternoon looking out over Olden and the mountains through the back windows … Somehow, it just didn’t seem real. Like a postcard projected onto a green screen … okay, a very grubby green screen.
With shows like Vikings, the interest in Vikings and that time period has really taken off recently. I’m fairly ignorant about the subject, and the only exposure I’ve had is from television showing them as ruthless sea-going warriors rading and pillaging other villages and countries for their own gain. So this trip to Norway π³π΄Β is a great opportunity to gain some insight into not only Norway but also of Viking culture.
Walking into the foyer at our hotel was like a scene from a zombie movie … the lights were on, but no one was home. After travelling for 35Β hours, we were shattered.!
It’s been four years since the handbag’s last journey. That trip feels like a distant memory now … so much, and yet so little has happened since the world shut down in 2019. In 2023, the handbag rides again!
Today we were greeted with another beautiful day as we entered the port of Katakolon. Katakolon is a beuatiful little seaside village that is the access point to Olympia – the birth place of the Olympics. A really interesting place and certainly worth a visit.
Our third port was to visit Athens. With seven cruise ships docked at Athens this morning it was always going to be busy. And it was.! By the time we exited the Parthenon at 11am there was a three hour wait to get in.
Our second port of discovery is the beautiful islands of Mykonos – with its narrow winding streets filled with lots of colour, and the fascinating archelogical site of Delos predating Popii by 700 years.
