First Camping Test
This was our first weekend away with the motorcycle trailer all setup for camping. With our tent and camping gear packed up we hit the road for a weekend away to test our set up.

After everything that has happened in 2020, we really shouldn’t take time for granted. Sixteen years ago I started to plan a trip around Australia, it is time to pull out the plans and dust them off before too much more time passes.
This was meant to be another chapter of the travelling handbag. However Covid19 put a stop to that. Instead we kept close to home and spent a few days down the coast.
Some days you just need a ride. A day in the saddle. A day to sit and let the world wash over you. A day to just decompress.
Today’s ride will take me to Bathurst, along the Bylong Valley Way where I will bid Russell farewell and I head home via the Putty into Sydney and then durge home the last 300km in the dark on the Freeway.
I’ve had this post sitting in draft for a few months and then a friend asked about changing the fuel filter in a ZX14R today (or 1400GTR), so it was time to put everything together from my experience and publish it.
Under the cover of darkness I snuck out of the house, topped up the tank and hit the road. No real idea where I was heading, I just needed to get out and clear my head. Heading out of Canberra I find myself on the road to the coast. The coast it is then. With…
Week four of working from home and while I’m actually quite enjoying the whole experience. However, I really miss the commute to and from the office. While cyclists and motorcyclists don’t agree on many things the one thing they do generally agree on is that the ride to and from work provides a good transition…
Covid-19 is certainly creating havoc on our world and we are all trying to find ways of coping with this new reality. 2020 has felt like a bad dream so far, with the devastating bush fire season here in Australia burning over 18,000,000 hectares, leaving towns decimated and 34 people killed. During which the surrounding…
Dad my bike has done it again… After the last big down pour of rain Emma’s Suzuki SV650 drowned after water flooded the front spark plug well shorting and killing the front cylinder. The bike doesn’t go well on only one cylinder. As it happened after work I assumed that water had sprayed up from…
There’s always a process after purchasing a bike, whether new or second hand, of transforming it into something that fits you and your needs. That could be adding farkles or just setting up the ergonomics for you. It could be just to make it look cool when it’s outside your favorite cafe. Or getting ready for that transcontinental trip you’re planning.
For us the ST represents two up adventures out on the open road. Sharing time together. So the bike needs to be set up with that in mind – capable of big comfortable touring miles. So I have been doing some work on upgrading the lights, improving the suspension, getting a better seat, and seeing what I can do about the screen.
