The Bolso goes to Mexico

Spring break time… and we are heading north of the equator where it is spring and getting warmer rather than at home where it’s getting colder and the heaters are being turned on.

Deb has had another successful year, and this year Stampin’ Up!* are taking us to Cancun in Mexico for a week at the Xcaret resort. And then we are going to hop over to the UK to spend a couple of weeks with my daughter and her family.

This year there are no planned motorcycle trips.

This year feels different somehow, excited and melancholy all at the same time.  Ten years ago nearly to the day, Deb was about to board the same plane to the same destination with her two sisters when they got the call to say their dad had passed away. It was not unexpected, but Deb had promised Leon she would do the trip regardless. That’s easy to say … but much harder to actually do.

I wasn’t on that trip and felt a long way away, and penned a tribute to Leon who I was pretty close to and had been part of his family for over 25 years.

As I said excited and melancholy.

Finally, after sitting around for hours we were leaving Sydney at 3:50pm on Sunday and 15 minutes later (Dallas time) we land in Dallas, after 14,000km of flying and 14.5 hours.

We were only in Dallas overnight and I was disappointed that we couldn’t get out and explore the area a bit, but by the time we got to our overnight accommodation and had something to eat, we collapsed into bed exhausted.

Another day, another flight, and we are in Cancun Mexico, ready for a week of … fun, swimming, exploring, and relaxing. Walking into the Xcaret Resort and the swimming and relaxing part are well and truly covered.

This is an all inclusive resort and I was wondering about the scales I found in our bathroom … before and after maybe.?

Got to go. We have a welcome party tonight with live music and lots of local cuisine to choose from.

Tomorrow’s task is to check out what other activities there are and what level of energy we have to drag ourselves away from lounging by the pool.

Oh and for those with zero Spanish like me … bolso is Spanish for handbag.
