Winthrop to Kamloops 500km – Day 2 making friends

Today we ride from the beautiful little town of Winthrop to Canada with a lunch stop at the lakeside town of Peachland. Today was about covering miles and a good opportunity to start getting accoustomed with the Harley as it so different to my ZX14R (ZZR1400)!
Traveling with an Eaglerider tour group is quite different as all you need to do is ride and enjoy the scenery as they take care of all the rest.

Seattle to Winthrop 370km – Day 1 on the bike, settling in

The third phase of our trip starts today with a 2 week motorcycle tour on a Harley Davidson Electra Glide with Eaglerider taking in Canada, the Rockies, and through a number of National Parks including Yellowstone and finishing up in Denver. Our group is very diverse with 9 nationalities represented.
This is the first big motorcycle tour that Deb and I have done so there are many unknowns for us. But we are really looking forward to this.!

Final Days in Seattle

Last night we were talking to our Airbnb hosts, who are absolutely lovely, and they suggested that we should also check out the Museum of History and Industry – MOHAI – which is primarily focused on a history of Seattle. Looking at Google maps it gave a few options but the easiest and fastest option…

Getting the Down-low on Seattle

In only a couple of days we head off on our riding adventure so rather than packing heaps more in while we are in Seattle we are just doing a couple of things and relaxing so we are ready for the next leg. Beneath the Streets – Deb found this tour on one of the…

Out for a drive around Seattle

With a very full day of taking in the sights yesterday, today we started it somewhat slower with a relaxed breakfast at the diner up the road at 10:30. It seemed like everyone in Queen Anne had the same idea as it was very busy which unfortunately meant it was slow. Oh well we’re on…

Taking in the sights of Seattle

On the ship I was asked a number of times whether I was looking forward to the bike ride later in our trip. I think there is a real danger in doing that as you wish away the here and now. The Adam Sandler movie Click comes to mind where he had a remote control…

The World Famous Victoria

Thursday Today we are back in Canada and docking in the port of Victoria. We were told that Victoria is a beautiful city full of beautiful gardens. There was a number of activities on offer but we opted for a simple tour of the city which included an hour at the Craigdarroch Castle. And true…

There Be Icebergs Captain

We entered the Fjord on our Royal Caribbean cruise at 5:30am – we just sat on our balcony watching as we glided through Endicott Arm with the mountain lined glacial coloured channel as otters popped up and icebergs passed. When we got to Dawes Glacier the captain simply spun the ship slowly around 3 times, about 800m from the glacier – so we sat eating our room service breakfast on our balcony in the glory of this magnificent 360 degree vista. Not too shabby!

Skagway

Monday Pulling into Skagway this morning – okay I was asleep when we pulled in – so when I pulled back the curtains this morning we were in Skagway. Our activity today didn’t start until 10am so there was no real hurry. Unlike Juneau you can get to Skagway by road and I’m told that…

Heading North to Alaska

I fear no good can come from this! We have only just skirted the bottom edge of Alaska and it has only wet my appetite more. This place looks amazing! In my head I’m already planning a bike trip up here! I’m sure work wouldn’t miss me for another few months. A bit about this…
