Sights of Townsville

It’s hard to believe that it’s nearly two weeks since we left home and in that time we’ve been on the go quite a bit. So today was much more relaxed, and other than a ride around town to check out Townsville we stayed close to the tent and took it easy.

Ideally it would have been great to spend more time at each town we stopped at, however we had a destination to get to and a time frame we had to meet. So that drove our schedule.

When we don’t have to turn up to the 9 to 5 we will have more time to explore. But for now we want to make the most of what time we have.

When camping, without all the daily stuff to distract me I find I’m in bed much earlier and therefore tend to be up earlier. And while I’m not generally a morning person it is nice to just sit on the beach and watch the sun come up.

And here are a few of the things we explored today around Townsville.

The painted water tank overlooking Townsville – see Deb on the left
Castle Hill lookout – the bay in the centre is Howes Bay where we are staying
Painting on Rock wall of amenities block
The Strand along ocean-front is beautiful with all these beautiful large fig trees
A couple of the many street art installations around town

Tomorrow we pack up again and head further south for a few days.

Today’s Distance: 29km

Total Distance: 4,030km

Next – Airlie Beach
