With the last real coffee a distant memory. Today started with a nice coffee.
From here Russell and I set off for the three ways (corner of the Barkley and Stuart Highways). I was wondering what Russell was up to at one point but it turned out the he was trying to go 150km with one throttle lock seeing.
From the the ways Russell headed north and I headed south.
I am playing tourist here so my first stop was at the Devils marbles. Well he must have a lot of mates playing as there are heaps of them scattered all over the place.
Then onto get these fellas to refuel me at Wycliffe Wells
I had to stop and take a photo of the straight road going over the straight rail line.
And the sign I’ve been waiting to see..!
For about 200km north of Alice Springs they have an open section of Highway.
However today I was battling a strong gusty crosswind that was playing havoc with my fully loaded bike. So I only had a couple of fast runs as the front of the bike was getting light at 240. So I opted to cruise at a steady 180. Man that is the way to cover ground quickly. And traffic is really good, everyone is sitting at a speed they are comfortable with. Some slow and some fast.
Then I arrived at Alice Springs.
And from there I headed west out to Glen Helen resort out in the West MacDonald ranges, where I stayed and have enjoyed a great feed of barra and a chat with couple of bike riders and grey nomads.
Day 5 – 877km
Total – 4,233km
